CR3 Technology Nominated as Breakthrough

The Center for Resource Recovery & Recycling is pleased to announce that The Continuous Flow Device has been nominated for inclusion in the 2014 Compendium of Industry-Nominated Technology Breakthroughs. The device is an outcome of the CR3 project: Accurate and Precise Optoelectronic Measurement of Molten Metal Chemistry. The research was conducted by Professor Diran Apelian, Director of CR3, and Dr. Ning Sun.
It is estimated that use of the continuous flow instrument by the secondary aluminum industry is predicted to reduce its energy consumption by an astounding 94%! In the United States alone, this energy savings is anticipated to result in industry-wide savings of 32.9 trillion kJ/year, and a CO2 reduction of 1.3 million tonnes/year.
