The Biological Soft Matter Lab at WPI

Our research program experimentally investigates biological soft matter to advance the understanding of how the physical properties of biopolymers, cells and multicellular systems relate to their structures, mechanics and disease states. We utilize our scientific findings to develop biological control strategies, diagnostics, and therapeutics that exploit the physical properties of cells and their microenvironments. We are particularly interested in addressing bacterial biofilm infection prevention and control and the development of novel antimicrobial strategies for combating antimicrobial resistance.
