Research by former WPI undergraduate students working with Professor Camesano and Professor Thompson has been accepted for publication in Environmental Science and Pollution Research.  The work was done in the laboratory of Dr. Marie-Noelle Pons at ENSIC in Nancy, France.  Alumni Rebecca Bygerg and Jesse Cobb spent 8 weeks conducting an intense research project. The goal of the study was to characterize the kinetics of the degradation of six industrially-important azo dyes.  The group studied photocatalytic degradation of the dyes, and tested the color breakdown, mineralization, and toxicity.  The ENSIC laboratories have been welcoming WPI undergraduates since 2002, and over 50 WPI students have participated during this time, working on research for their senior theses.
