Welcome to the AV website!
Alden Voices is WPI’s Women’s Choir founded in 1978. We rehearse Wednesdays and Thursdays 5:00 – 6:30pm at the First Baptist Church of Worcester. On Wednesdays, we rehearse solely as Alden Voices; on Thursdays, we combine with the Men’s Glee Club to create the Festival Chorus. Here you can information about our organization, rehearsal schedules, photo albums, officer biographies, member composites, videos of our performances, links to our social media pages, and more!
A Letter From a Former AV President:
Alden Voices is not just a chorus, it’s a family. I say this because I joined Alden Voices to sing, but I got so much more. We are a group of about 60 women who eat together, laugh together, and most importantly, sing together. We join together with the Men’s Glee Club, which provides an even larger range of music and friendships. There have been more than a dozen marriages between couples who have met through this chorus.
We are a non-auditioned singing group, accepting people who have ranged from only singing in the shower, to being classically trained. We grow and learn together as we sing. We perform a large range of music, and have several exciting concerts throughout the year. We enjoy going on tour to New York City to perform in Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia at Saint John the Divine Cathedral. Here, we enjoy great music, good food, and often see Broadway shows! As a social group, we try to be inclusive and creative in our events, with socials ranging from nacho night, free food at O’Connors restaurant, going to a Dance Ranch, ice skating, and having an end of the year formal!
Along with a bustling social atmosphere, Alden Voices presents their members with wonderful leadership opportunities. With currently 10 officer positions, members are encouraged to show their creativity and expand their leadership abilities by being on the officer board. With the organization growing rapidly, we are always looking for more enthusiastic leaders!
Many people join Alden Voices for a place to relax after a long day of classes and to feel like part of a community that will always be there for you. There is no better feeling than doing what you love, surrounded by people that you love. Alden Voices is one of my greatest passions, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from you!
