Over 300 high school students from across Massachusetts will present Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical Science projects after participating in Project Lead The Way courses. In PLTW high school courses, students engage in real-world problem based learning, tackling different projects as they learn about the engineering design process and how to apply it to solve real-world challenges. As a volunteer, you’ll circulate among student displays and engage students in brief conversations about their projects. Using a simple rubric, you’ll nominate projects for recognition at the end. Your time with students is super valuable, as it helps them to see how what they’re learning connects to challenges being approached by real live professionals and how it could lead to an exciting STEM career for them as well. Volunteers find the event meaningful and fun as well — check out last year’s great event here!
