Back by popular demand, Workshops for Educators, offered by WPI’s STEM Education Center! All workshops are 1-hour long and are open to educators and parents interested in learning about high-quality STEM education (adults only please). Certificate of participation will be awarded upon request.
- 10:00am – 11:00am | STEM with Little Kids in Big Ways
For educators of students in grades PK-3
Interested in learning how to incorporate STEM/STEAM into PK-3 classrooms? Join this workshop to engage with our new Seeds of STEM Pre-K curriculum and the Engineering a Story method. Participants will explore what STEM integration can look like and try out an activity to take back to their classrooms or try with their children. - 11:30am – 12:30pm | Get Ready for STEM Week 2019
For educators of students in grades PK-12
The second MA STEM week is scheduled for the week of October 21 – Are you ready? Participants will engage in a couple of integrated STEM activities and multiple ideas to make this year’s STEM week even better than the first one. - 1:00pm – 2:00pm | Technology, Inside and Out: Exploring Communication Systems
For educators of students in grades 4-12
Get a sneak peek at our “What’s Inside my Technology?” workshop. Participants will try out a portion of the lesson and get an activity to utilize in the classroom. Participants will also be introduce to the iFixit tools, which can be borrowed for free from the Central MA STEM Network. - 2:30pm – 3:30pm | Everything STEM Teachers Need to Know about WPI’s STEM Educator Certificate Course
For educators of students in grades PK-12
Looking to become a STEM certified teacher? Join us to learn about the STEM Education Center’s new STEM Educator Certificate course. Participants will review the course syllabus, review integrated STEM challenges created during the first pilot course and engage in a short activity from the course.
Location: All workshops will be held in Salisbury Laboratories, Room 105
The workshops are free and limited to 20 participants. Registration is required to secure your spot.
