Track 2: Sustainable Tomorrow

Civil & Environmental Engineering

Eco-Water Solutions for a Sustainable Tomorrow

In this workshop, participants will engage in various hands-on activities to learn about and apply different water treatment technologies. They will learn how to design, operate, and optimize processes to implement water treatment solutions within specific constraints or scenarios. Participants will collect data during experiments and analyze the results to draw conclusions about water treatment effectiveness. Participants will be presented with real-world water treatment challenges and asked to come up with solutions using the knowledge gained from the experiments. Because this workshop will take place in a laboratory, students must wear appropriate personal protective equipment to do this workshop. For safety reasons participants MUST wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. We will provide hard hats, gloves to keep you clean, and safety glasses to keep you safe.

Robotics Engineering

“Imagine a robot…”

Girls will work in groups of 2 or 3 using the Lego Robot Kits to program a robot to do a task that can represents how robotics can be used towards accomplishing a UN sustainable development goal! For example, Imagine a robot… that could collect trash for Goal 15 Life on Land! Partipants will make a tiktok video or instagram video talking about what their robot can do! Participants will learn how to program an XRP robot and work in teams. The particpants will also get the chance to see a teleoperated humanoid robot demo from the Human Inspired Robotics Lab.
