Artist Statement:
The images created on this project reflect the before, during, and after theme. I wanted to create a story using photography to express the impact this pandemic has had on us. I wanted to create something that was simple yet allowed for the viewer to interpret the photos in their own way. I believe every person will be able to relate to this story photography not only in relation to this pandemic, but also at a personal level.
The series begins with having four chairs symbolizing before the pandemic happened. As the pandemic began to impact us all a chair is removed. The removal of the chairs may symbolize something different for everyone, some type of loss. Eventually, there are no more chairs left. However, as we reach the last photo you see the door is slightly ajar, and you see light coming through. This may symbolize the unknown yet the hope to come.
