Pro Tip Tuesday: Delay Posting of Canvas Announcements
Today’s time saving pro tip is what I would consider to be part of “Canvas’ Greatest Hits Collection,” if they had one.
The general knowledge is that posting Announcements in your course is a really easy way to broadcast important information to your entire class. But here’s a really cool thing about Announcements that you might not already know!
Delay Posting
You can schedule announcements ahead of time to be posted at a later date. For example, when setting up your course at the beginning of the term, you might want to schedule reminders to your students of a draft of a paper being due, or that an outside speaker would be coming into class on a specific date, or even to remember to meet with their teammates. Just set it, and forget it!
When you’re setting up your announcement to be posted, check off the box for Delay Posting (#2 in the example below) and then fill in the date that you’d like the announcement to appear.
Hope you found this helpful! As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to canvashelp@wpi.edu.
