New Feature Spotlight: Add Recent Announcements to your Home Page

Did you know you can add your most recent announcements to your Canvas Home Page?

Canvas added a cool widget that allows you to display your most recent announcements on your Canvas course home page dynamically. As you post new announcements, it will automatically update with the newest and greatest!

Students will be able to click on the announcement title to expand the selection. Only text will be displayed.

Students will click on the View Announcement button to go to the announcements page to view images or download attachments.

It doesn’t matter which home page you choose (side note: did you know you could change your home page?) – you can use this widget with any of the options.

If you’re concerned that your students aren’t receiving your course announcements, or just like to be on the bleeding edge- follow the below instructions:

1. Click on Settings in your course navigation
2. Click on Course Details
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page
4. Click on More Options
5. Click the checkbox for “Show recent announcements on Course home page”
6. In the drop down menu, specify how many announcements to show, between 1-15 (my recommendation is between 3-5)
7. Click Update Course Details
