Overview
The Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) is an immersive, 7-week project-based learning experience that WPI students complete in their third year, working on teams and partnering with local organizations. These projects, defined in cooperation with our partners, address important issues at the intersection of technology and society. Students conduct background research and learn about professional approaches to the problem in the term prior to their arrival in Melbourne, drafting a full proposal for their work on site. Once on site, they collect data, identify best practices, and create deliverables that address local needs. These deliverables might include research studies, evidence-based recommendations, or innovative solutions such as new databases, educational materials, videos, or built structures and tools they design. The projects culminate in a project report and public presentation. To read about past projects, explore the Projects page.
