Field Trip to The MathWorks
Liz Callanan of The MathWorks hosted WPI SIAM members on a visit to the MathWorks. We enjoyed presentations from a number of employees in various roles of the company. Transportation was provided by the MathWorks.

COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modelling
The chapter sponsored two teams in this year’s contest. The teams were:
- Jessica Clark (sophomore), David LeRay (senior), and Sanjayan Manivannan (junior): MERITORIOUS
- Brian Cordes (senior), Eric Griffel (sophomore), Chukwunomso Agunwamba (freshman): SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPANTS
The chapter has purchased a CD-Rom with past contest problems and solutions from COMAP to aid in preparation for future contests.

Panel Discussion: “Careers in Industry”
This was a panel of four speakers from industry:
- Mr. Aron Atkins (WPI ’96) of Carbon Design Systems
- Ms. Jennifer Charlonne of Travelers/Premier Insurance
- Dr. David Clark of Aptima
- Dr. Michael Tocci (WPI ’92) of The MathWorks
This panel was held as part of the Northeast Section Meeting of the MAA held at WPI. The SIAM officers helped to organize and moderate the panel.
