Summer STEM School is in Session!

Recently, we welcomed 50 students from the STEM Starter Academy at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). These brilliant young minds are spending their summer preparing for their first year of college with field trips like this, along with academic courses and formal presentations. Many of the students are the first in their families to attend college, and it was exciting to see their eagerness to get a jumpstart on careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) fields.

We loved having the students in the building! BETC Senior Operations Manager Dan Mardirosian gave them an overview of the biomanufacturing process, using our state-of-the-art lab equipment and an illustrated flow chart. Then Dan and I split the group and each took some of the budding scientists on a grand tour of the facility. The students were engaged and curious and asked great questions; it was hard to keep up at times!

We hope the students had as much fun as we did during their visit. It was truly inspiring to see so much excitement for science in this next generation of learners. We can’t wait to meet more STCC students at the BETC in the future!

Bring STEM to your students with a trip to the BETC!
