Filed in Canvas by on August 8, 2017

The Rich Content Editor in Canvas has a ton of tools for you to create custom pages that are unique to your course site.  Here’s a tip for one of these tools that you might not have known about. The Link to URL tool (the chain link icon in the toolbar).  You can create clickable images on your Pages, Syllabus, Announcements (pretty much any feature that uses the Rich Content Editor) that link out to the web using this tool.

The following Canvas features use the Rich Content Editor:

  • Announcements
  • Assignments
  • Discussions
  • Pages
  • Quizzes
  • Syllabus

How do I do it?

First, click and drag to highlight the image you’d like to make clickable as a link. It will look something like this if you’ve done it right.

Highlight the image

Then, click on the Link to URL icon in the toolbar.

click the chain to create a hyperlink

Fill in the information requested in the dialog box and then click Insert Link.

Insert Website URL
