A statewide effort to boost the interest, awareness and ability for all learners to envision themselves in STEM education and employment opportunities and complement the formal instruction happening in the Commonwealth beyond STEM week. The STEM Advisory Council and Healey-Driscoll Administration have announced five educational organizations to support STEM-related hands-on learning opportunities for students in this fall.

We need you to help learners of all ages see themselves in STEM!

We are looking for industry partners, schools, libraries, organizations and/or after school programs to join us in planning impactful activities or events during STEM Week!  Let us know what you are planning so we can promote it and report it to the state! Schools should also share any events or activities that are part of their curriculum. We want to recognize all the work you to do promote STEM learning!

Rosie the hen walks around the farmyard, avoiding obstacles that include a rake, pond and beehive. But Rosie is not alone on her journey—careful readers will see Fox lurking in the background. Rosie’s Walk focuses on standards from the computational thinking domain, and challenges students to create an algorithm for Rosie’s original walk (the walk Rosie takes in the story), and then different algorithms Fox moves around. Students use a game board for the farmyard and cut-out figures of Rosie and the fox to test their algorithms.

Students will learn about engineering and the design process, then become engineers themselves and design a windmill. The program will continue with a presentation about college and a campus tour.
