NSF funding to develop long-term, stimulated multineural imaging
Prof. Albrecht has received a 3-year NSF award titled “Long-term brain circuit imaging with chemical and optogenetic stimulation.” from ENG/CBET/BME. This project focuses on adapting microfluidic methods to light-sheet microscopy to enable recording activity among many neurons, for hours, with precise microfluidic and optogenetic stimulation. The lab will use these techniques to further study mechanisms regulating neural sensitivity, excitability, adaptation, and multisensory integration and their regulation during learning, sleep, and neurological disorders.
