Project Description
Through our project, we aimed to facilitate and simplify the food distribution and data management process for the local food pantry, El Buen Samaritano. By implementing a technological solution, we hoped to improve the inventory system that the organization is currently using. Shifting from the current pen-and-paper system to a digital system, the non-profit organization will be able to minimize redundancy and effectively record and analyze data for expanding its services.
Project Sponsor – El Buen Samaritano
El Buen Samaritano (EBS) is a non-profit organization offering food, clothes, and services to the Worcester community. EBS has also provided housing support, translation service, immigration assistance, and COVID-19 supplies in recent years.

Project Goal and Objectives
Our project goal was to develop a technological solution for El Buen Samaritano that facilitates data collection, storage, and analysis. We aimed to provide an improved system that will simplify the daily operation in El Buen Samaritano and assist in gaining increased funding and grants.
To design and implement the solution, our team has identified the following objectives:
Understand logistical operations at EBS Objective
Identify EBS requirements for data collection
Learn about data collection tools at other food pantries
Determine the best digital platform for data collection
Develop a plugin to interface the data submission portal.
