Ocean Drive Corridor Monitoring

In recent years vehicle congestion has been escalating in Acadia National Park. The Ocean Drive Corridor is one area of the park where congestion is significant. The 2020 WPI Ocean Drive Visitor Congestion team utilized a remote multi-camera monitoring system to collect data along the road and in the various parking lots along the corridor.

The 2021 WPI Ocean Drive Monitoring team continued the research by collecting data through the use of Streetlight big-data, in-person monitoring and observations, and multi-camera monitoring systems. The team analyzed the data in an effort to advise the Park regarding the eventual implementation of a vehicle reservation system to regulate traffic on the Ocean Drive Corridor.
