Demo Venue Needs

Team 190 Demo 2019

Potential demo venues should have the following:

  • A 10′ x 10′ or larger space free of obstacles with at least nine-foot tall ceilings. The floor should be mostly flat and level, and either high traffic carpet or a hard floor such as laminate, tile, wood, concrete, or a gym floor. Our robots use hard rubber wheels.
  • For demos with a presentation, a designated seating area with some space between the robot operating area and the spectators to ensure safe operation.
  • A four-foot long table (or longer) to set the robot controls on.
  • Access to a power outlet near the table to power the controls.

Great places to hold a demo are gyms, cafeterias, rec rooms, or outside on asphalt or concrete (weather permitting, robots and water do not mix). Other locations, such as in a grassy area, can be accommodated on a case by case basis. If you have any questions, or would like to schedule a demo, contact Francis O’Rourke, Assistant Director of the Robotics Resource Center at rrc@wpi.edu.
