Microsoft Education has officially launched its new Microsoft 365 tool streamlining how faculty interact with Microsoft tools inside of Canvas.
This update replaces the legacy Teams Meetings and Teams Classes LTI tools, which will be retired September 15, 2025. The new tool called Microsoft Education has been added to your course navigation menu to replace Microsoft Teams Meetings, Microsoft Teams Classes and Office365.
What’s New for Faculty?
The new Microsoft 365 LTI brings together popular education tools—Assignments, OneNote Class Notebooks, OneDrive, Reflect, Teams, and Teams Meetings—into a single integration. Faculty can now:
- Create and manage assignments directly in their LMS
- Schedule and join Teams meetings without leaving their course
- Access and organize OneDrive files within LMS modules
- Launch Class Notebooks with automatic rostering
- Use Reflect for student wellbeing check-ins
- Benefit from AI-enhanced grading and feedback tools
