Abstract
The goal of the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Office of Patent Quality Assurance (OPQA) is to ensure that Patent Applications are fairly and accurately examined. OPQA has begun to analyze the impact an application’s readiness has on its examination. To help with this initiative, our team developed an Application Readiness Review Form to assess the readiness of applications. After conducting the reviews, the dataset was compared to other OPQA metrics, such as types of rejections received and correctness of those rejections. The result of this analysis will enable the USPTO to make advancements in the study of Application Readiness, and make recommendations to the public to improve the examinability of applications and to increase the efficiency of USPTO examiners.
