Since 1974, Worcester Polytechnic Institute students have been travelling to Washington, D.C. to complete projects in cooperation with both federal and local governmental agencies, as well as non-governmental, private, and non-profit organizations.

In completing these projects, WPI students work in teams on open-ended questions to understand the relationship between science/technology and society. Project topics come from our sponsoring organizations and the students’ work is in service to their mission or in aid to internal operations. Agencies with whom we have worked include the Department of Energy, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Park Service and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
