Water Supply
Water supply is a critical challenge for many communities throughout Massachusetts. For example, in 2016, more than 1/2 of the communities in Massachusetts were experiencing severe drought conditions. The City of Worcester water supply was so low, that the City had to purchase water from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). These conditions severely strained water supplies (and finances) for communities throughout the state. Other concerns include water quality and effective administration and management of water supply systems. Many towns and municipalities simply don’t have the resources or expertise to address these problems. The projects in the drinking water area involve collaborations with communities to assist them in their efforts to overcome these issues.
