How to get stuff done while having fun in the sun

Today marks one week until the last day of classes and the end of the 2017-2018 school year. I’ve learned a lot about professional development, advising, and most importantly blogging, and hope everyone has something fun, functional, or both lined up for the summer. To wrap things up, here’s some advice on how to keep your job search active over the summer.

Summer is great as a chance to relax from a busy school year, but I also like to try and get ahead on some work before the fall. Invariably though, I never get around to accomplishing everything I set out to at the start of the summer. To combat this, I’m going to set aside one hour each week to dedicate to something career related. Only one hour a week is an easily manageable commitment, and you can get a lot done in the time. From updating your resume, expanding your network on LinkedIn, practicing writing cover letters, researching companies or open roles for the fall, there are plenty of ways to make your job search a habit while school isn’t in session. I encourage everyone to try and see what they can do with an hour!

Finally, I’d like to thank our dedicated readers (you know we couldn’t do it without you), and will look forward to another exciting year in 2018-2019. Before you forget, be sure to update your contacts with the PA’s new email, cdcpeeradvisors19@wpi.edu, who you can go to with any and all of your favorite career questions.
