Studio: How to Upload Video

Filed in Miscellaneous by on September 7, 2020 0 Comments

Greetings WPI Video Producers:

Canvas has a video content management system in it. It’s integrated into Canvas. It’s called Studio.

You can upload videos to Studio and it won’t count against your storage quota. If you upload directly to the files section of your Canvas site it does count against your quota.

You’ll find Studio on the left side menu of your course site. Students won’t find this button, but you as an instructor will. Why? Right now it is mostly a content creation option/repository for instructor videos which you then share out through links, pages or modules. But more on that later. This blog post is about uploading.

Click Studio.

On the upper right you’ll see a button to add.

This puts in the video in your general collection of videos.

From here, you can find the video and click on the bottom right. You’ll see the option to Share Media.

Click Share Media. From here, you’ll see the option to create a public link.

If you create a link, you can share this link with your students. You can post it in Canvas in a module as an external URL, for example.

If you have any questions, please email atc-ttl@wpi.edu.
