Returning from Africa

Filed in From the Staff by on January 13, 2012

I spent my last term abroad in South Africa and it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life! The whole trip was amazing including the work and I also learned a lot about myself that I wasn’t expecting. Through working so closely with my team, I got a whole new and different perspective of working in a group. My role within the group gradually changed as I began setting tasks and presenting to sponsors. Through this experience I really saw that I acquired many skills that could be applied to a management position. Although I believe I could do it well, I want to get involved with management later in my career.

I came to Africa because I really wanted to start my impact on the world. I feel like my IQP has the potential to do that but now the challenge is how to do that with the rest of my life.  Whether through my career or hobbies I will find some way to help the world.
