Hope You Had a Great Summer!

Welcome back and welcome class of 2019!

To reintroduce myself: I’m Jacky, one of the Peer Advisors here at the CDC. This is my junior year and I’m a double major in Management and Economics – so for any students taking Intro Econ classes you might end up participating in my lab experiments for extra credit (you should say hello 🙂 )!

It blows me away how quickly this summer flew by. I was a Portfolio and Project Management Analyst Intern for Fidelity Investments Personal Investing. My manager and I worked with five focus areas and were responsible for making sure teams didn’t over/under spend their budgets and didn’t over/under use their resources.

One of the most exciting projects that I worked on was a pitch to attract Young Investors to Fidelity. Along with three other interns, we developed an idea that Fidelity could potentially implement to get people ages 18-35 to invest. We presented to our managers, vice presidents, our division’s senior vice president, and the chief financial officer.

Presentations have not been my forte, but having that presentation has been the best practice I’ve ever had. I was even the first one to volunteer to give a workshop on Career Fair Tips (shameless plug – it’s September 8th @ 7pm in Fuller Lower) and that’s something I would usually shy away from. I’m excited to be able to get even more practice presenting this upcoming year when I present workshops for you all. I’m really excited to start taking on more Peer Advisor responsibilities and being able to share CDC tips!

I hope to see everyone at the upcoming workshops and at the Career Fair (September 16th @ 12-4pm in the Rec Center).

Until next time,

-Jacky
