Major & Career Internet Resources

So I’ve been doing some research about majors trying to make a decision between ME and RBE. There is a lot of information out there and it can sometimes be difficult to know where to look. The CDC has a page on its website that has a link to some internet resources to gain information on majors.

If you’re having trouble, you can make an appointment with a CDC staff member, but you should also visit this link!

I have looked through three sites that are listed.

O*NET OnLine has great lists of what is needed for different professions including tasks one will complete in the job, tools one works with in the profession, and the knowledge and skills one needs.

The Sloan Career Cornerstone Center has a section called Understanding Fields that provides information about a range of professions. There is also a section called Understanding Degrees that explains the differences between different types of degrees including what is needed for various fields.

I would like my work to involve alternative energy projects and another site that I found helpful was the Green Careers Guide. If you’re interested in an occupation that deals with alternative energy or any other ‘green’ position, this site is definitely worth checking out!

As I find out more information I will post it here!
