How to Get a Ticket for a Company Interview?

Filed in From the Staff by on September 20, 2012

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday was an exciting day for campus, because the first career fair of the year took place. Upperclassmen got all dressed up, going around with their resumes, planning what they are going to say to employers. Some of them were more prepared then others, they already had a list of target companies, their resumes tailored to each company and their elevator speech on their mind. Today some of them are already having their first interviews for an internship or full time job! You talk to those people and wonder how they got the interview? You think there is more to it other than just impressing the employers at the career fair? Here is the answer:

They already started to build a network with the employers they want to work for. One important approach that is ignored by many students is attending company information sessions. Companies usually offer information sessions to students the day before they hold interviews on campus. They introduce the company, mention the positions they have available and even have their senior leaders to attend these sessions to give students a better idea about the goals and values of their company. These sessions are perfect opportunities for networking and getting a ticket for the interview next day. Employers want to meet you; but they are also eager to learn about your qualities and see your enthusiasm.

If you want to get that ticket for your dream job and the only obstacle is to be selected for an interview, use the company information sessions as a gateway. Go on your JobFinder account today and check out when the company information sessions are under the Information Sessions tab under Events. You never know, maybe that company you long waited to talk to has an info session tomorrow! Good luck on the job hunt 😉
