Hi everyone! My name is Kelly and I'm from Andover, MA. I'm a senior in Mechanical Engineering, and it's my second year as a Peer Advisor for WPI's Career Development Center. I'm also in one of the sororities on campus, Phi Sigma Sigma, and a part of EPICS (Engineering Projects In Community Service). I'm going to be keeping you updated on my senior year and what I'm doing to figure out my life after college (jobs, grad school, etc). Enjoy!

Think you have the perfect resume? You can still make it better.
I’ve had my resume critiqued a number of times so I thought it was in pretty good shape. However, with the Summer Internship & Job Fair coming up this Thursday, I decided to take advantage of the employer resume critiques happening on campus. I figured another set of eyes looking at something couldn’t hurt and […]
Career Fair Prep
So considering I’m a senior and it’s February and I don’t have a job yet, I’m already using Job Finder to help me to prepare for the Career Fair (on the 17th!). Job Finder has a list of all of the companies coming to the Career Fair with descriptions about them, links to their website, […]
So do I really want to be an engineer anways?
So as I’m digging through job postings a pretty substancial question has come up: “Do I even want to be an engineer?”. Yeah, there are a lot of really cool engineering jobs, but there also seems to be a lot of other interesting job posting in terms of engineering sales, or buisness, or leadership type […]
Break’s over and it’s back to school.
So I’m actually fairly happy with my job search progress over winter break. Although I feel like I could have always done just a little bit more, I did get some significant things acomplished; I contacted friends, family, neighbors and sorority sisters asking them to help pass my resume along in their company, and applied […]
So where do I want to live? And every other question.
I have to admit, I didn’t get quite as much job searching done over Thanksgiving break as I had hoped to do…but I’m not that surprised about it either. I guess I always tell myself that I have tons of time over break to do everything I’ve been putting off, but then as soon as […]
Thanksgiving is a time for Turkey…and playing catch up.
I have to say. I’m excited for Thanksgiving break for a few reasons. First, I get to see family and friends. This is the first big event since the summer that all of my family gets together and all of my friends are back in town. I’ve missed everyone a lot while at school so […]
Knowing You’re Not Alone in the Job Search is Comforting
This week was the last week of Sorority Recruitment at WPI. During one of the Rounds, our Recruitment Chair urged the freshmen to talk to our sisters about what we did off campus – activities, traveling, IQP, and what we do after college (some of our Alumni were there). She also said “and feel free […]
Interviewing Frustrations
Okay, so after the Career Fair a company contacted me about having an interview. I was really excited about it because this would be my first interview for a full time job. However, I’ve run into so many problems trying to meet with them that I’m not really excited at all. When the HR contact […]
Job Searching and Finals Procrastination
As you can tell by how packed the library is, A term finals are officially here. Although I am swamped with work, I’m starting to feel the pressures of job searching again. I guess it’s because looking for a job is my #1 item on my Fall Break To Do List – that is, after […]
Switching Majors
So I just finished having coffee in the campus center with one of the sophomores in my sorority. We were both working on homework, and she mentioned that she didn’t know if she was in the right major. She talked about not knowing what major she wanted, what she wanted to possibly get a graduate […]
