Our group is working to complete our Interdisciplinary Qualifying Project at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. We are working with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). We have two project advisors, they are Susan Vernon-Gerstenfeld and Seth Tuler.
Working with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health we hope to compare Massachusetts and other states in New England in their farm labor policies to determine the best policies that will help protect farm laborer’s standards of living. We have four objectives that will help us complete this goal. The objectives are: Acquire knowledge of farm labor laws in Mass, understand the current living arrangements of farm laborers, assessment of other policies and outreach strategies, and design an informational tool to inform farm labors while giving the Massachusetts DPH some possible avenues for future projects on how to help the laborers.
