Getting around in Puerto Rico

Getting around San Juan is possible using both buses and the light rail, known as Tren Urbano. Both of these are administered by the Departamento de Transportación y Obras Publicas. You will find additional information about bus transportation here, but keep in mind this information has not been validated by project center personnel. There is a bus station in Old San Juan from which you will be able to obtain more information. Daily and monthly passes for public transportation can be purchased at train stations, and can be used on both trains and buses.

Public transportation outside of the city of San Juan is extremely limited, but there are many options for hiring private driving services (from small taxis to buses that can carry many people). The hotel staff at the Courtyard can help you to identify options for transportation outside the San Juan area. Transportation outside of San Juan for project-related activities will be coordinated with sponsoring organizations.
