Living in San Juan

For the last several years, students participating in the project center program have been housed in a Courtyard by Marriott hotel located in the neighborhood of Miramar. Information on the hotel can be found here; most students will be housed in double rooms. Rooms provide limited cooking and food storage facilities.

Miramar is a neighborhood in transition, and is currently considered one of the most desirable places to live within the city limits. Local residents are primarily young professionals and families, and the area is a mix of businesses, residences, and schools.

The city of San Juan offers many convenient shopping options, including a Walmart Supercenter within easy reach of the Courtyard hotel and Plaza Las Americas, a full shopping mall located an easy bus or taxi ride from the hotel. There are two grocery stores across the street from the Courtyard; one is moderately sized and priced, and the other is a smaller, more expensive gourmet store. Both offer plenty of options for prepared meals or meals requiring only simple preparation.
