5 Tips On Making The Most Of The Last 7 Academic Days!
No time to do much more than zoom through textbooks, inhale caffeine, and get to know the Wings Over delivery guy on a first-name basis? That’s alright. Me too. Which is why here’s 5 quick steps you can take to make the most of your last 7 academic days this year at WPI! 1. Get […]
6 Summer Steps Getting YOU Ahead Of The Curve.
Eight more school days from this point forward. That’s weird. I thought we were supposed to get more warm weather in the SPRING semester… BUT! During this summer, there’s a lot more free time when most of us are away from organizations, academics, and school friend groups, allowing us to fill a little bit of […]
7 Values With LinkedIn For WPI Students
“Yeah, all I really do on LinkedIn is ‘connect with people’ and then log off. LinkedIn’s whatever.” The students that speak like this either don’t truly care about their LinkedIn profiles, or they don’t really understand how to leverage LinkedIn to their advantage. In the past three years, LinkedIn as grown exponentially (up 58 Million […]
Find YOUR Summer Job Opportunity This D Term!
“D Term is going by so fast already and I don’t have a job. I’ll probably just take the one I had from last summer, or figure out something in my hometown.” It makes me sad when I hear students say this around campus in April, because 1) WPI gets out SO much earlier than […]
Need A Contact? Check Out The CDC’s In-House Computers!
“If I had a contact or an ‘in’ to Company X, I feel like I’d be so much better off. What Is Networking? It’s Natural, Really; Or At Least, It SHOULD Be!
“I’m so bad at networking. I never know how to approach people, or talk to them; I don’t get how some people are so good at it.” If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone complain like this, well, I wouldn’t be rich, but I might be able to take them out […]
Calm Before The Storm: Your Spring Break Opportunity!
Most of my friends are the type who work hard in academics, on-campus activities, work-study positions, and juggle a social life on campus to top it all off. This doesn’t leave much time, if any, for an active job search. Even aiming to apply to 3 jobs per week on JobFinder can seem like a […]
What Most People Don’t Do AFTER The Career Fair
You went to the Career Fair, got some great contact information, and feel pretty confident handing out those resumes. That’s awesome, good for you! What’s your next step? The biggest mistake that WPI students make in their internship or full-time job searches: they fail to recognize that job offers don’t pass the Career Fair tables […]
The Next Step Forward: Thoughts About Business Graduate School
“I think I’m going to go to grad school right after WPI. Why not get it all done at once?” To some, this kind of statement seems pretty sweet – especially with the five-year programs that WPI offers, and particularly because having a student mentality makes ‘getting it all done now’ seem like the most […]
