Meet the 2011 River Team

The 2011 River Team is comprised of four students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, located in the United States. The project advisors are Scott Jiusto and Steve Taylor. Sponsoring this project was the City of Cape Town’s Department of Environmental and Heritage Management. Juan Nomdo, Clive James, Crispin Barrett and Damian Wentzel are the officials from the City of Cape Town that the team worked with.

Name: Michael “Mike” Della Donna

Major: Computer Science

About me:  I am  an active member of Sigma Pi Fraternity and the Association for Computing Machinery.  I enjoy playing Hockey and exploring.

 

Name: Kiara “Kiki” Gravel

Major: Mechanical Engineering

About me: I love to try new things and stay active. I play rugby, soccer, basketball, and the list goes on. I am also on the executive board for the Junior Class and Black Student Union. You might see me driving a SNAP van or stepping during basketball games.

 

Name: Katrina “Katie” Boynton

Major: Biomedical Engineering / Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering Concentration

About me:  I am a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Colleges Against Cancer, Society of Women Engineers and a varsity softball player. I enjoy skiing, scuba diving, camping and anything else associated with the outdoors.

 

Name: James “JD” Sareault

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Minor: Entrepreneurship

About me: In my free time, I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee and snowboarding. I am involved in my fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and founded the campus Ski & Snowboard club.
