I am a management engineering major with a concentration in Biomedical engineering, and a minor in law and technology. I am a devoted member of the Zeta Psi fraternity and WPI rugby team. I chose the Cape Town project center for a number of reasons, one being that it is much more hands on and involved with the underprivileged members of the community. The level of involvement in Monwabisi Park has allowed me and my team to make a larger impact on the community. This project has also allowed me to see a new part of the world as well gain a great appreciation for how well off we are in comparison with other people in the world.  My time in Cape Town has been a life changing experience and I would return to Cape Town or Monwabisi Park in an instant if the opportunity presented itself in the future.

I am a Chemical Engineering major with a minor in International Studies.  My home town is Trumbull, Connecticut.  On campus, I am a member of Phi Sigma Sigma, Gamma Iota Chapter as well as on the Women’s Rugby Team.  I spend a few hours every week hanging out with my little sister in the Big Brother, Big Sister Program.  I chose Cape Town as my first choice for IQP because I liked the community involvement in all of the projects as well as the interaction between project groups.  I am also extremely interested in making sustainable communities.  This project has certainly changed my mind set on wasteful energy practices and the need for sustainability.  I most enjoy meeting residents of the Park and learning about their culture.  I love the city of Cape Town itself.  We took multiple trips on the weekends, my favorite being the trip to Cape Point.  I would love to come back to visit the city again when I can afford the flights at some point in the future.

I am a Chemical Engineering major graduating from WPI in 2011.  I am a member of the Iota Xi chapter of Alpha Xi Delta, and am also in Active Minds and the Student Support Network.   I love music, and am therefore very involved in the music department on campus – I am the principal oboist in the orchestra, woodwind quintet, and concert band.  I decided to go to the Cape Town project center not only because all of the projects are interesting and challenging, and the teams work closely together, but also because I may never have an opportunity to travel to South Africa again.  I have greatly enjoyed my stay in Cape Town in its entirety, and hope to visit again!
