Ethical Considerations

Ethical Considerations

In this project, there were many ethical concerns that the team had to consider when presenting and executing this project.  First, the team considered how the project would affect the community members.  While the project may not be viewed as having a negative effect on the community, the possibility for negative outcomes to arise exists. Some important questions are:  Who will be employed? How will they be selected?  How will existing small businesses in the area be affected?  All of these questions were taken into consideration when the team devised and implemented the plan.

Throughout this project, the team worked closely with the residents of the community, savings group members and our sponsor CORC.  Balancing the opinions and goals of these parties was extremely important to the project’s progress. However, with many partners involved, there was a great possibility that issues could arise. It was important that the team make diplomatic decisions to attend to the needs of each party. Maintaining this balance was difficult given a language barrier and severe cultural and social differences.  The group was sure to convey the project mission as clearly as possible.  Ensuring that all parties understood the mission and objectives of this project was of utmost importance to our team.
