Drains

Drains are another essential part in any WaSH facility. A drain provides community members with a safe place to dump water that has been used for things such as cleaning dishes, bathing, and washing laundry. A designated place to dump water will also cut down on the amount of standing water in the streets and foster a safer, cleaner area. Drains have been included in most of the past WPI water and sanitation projects (Harris 2011). The current drains in Langrug are located near most of the toilet blocks. They lead to the sewers but are often blocked and clogged with trash and food scraps (Kenney 2011).
