What Business Institutions/Models Would Best Serve the Community?
For this current project, the team began by researching alternative business strategies beginning with a kiosk set up in the established WaSH-UP facility. The team believed this could promote a greater appreciation and easier access to HEW supplies. In addition, this project had the capacity to create jobs and raise standard level of living. There are four main business strategies that were considered for this project: Small business for profit, a cooperative (co-op), a cost-savings group, and a social enterprise. These four strategies are remarkably different, therefore, when deciding on which would work best the team considered what combination of them would create a proper balance of strengths needed in the community.
