Background Research

The background provides a framework for the rest of your project. This often includes a context of the problem that your project addresses (such as water and sanitation or early childhood development in the Cape Town informal settlements), as well as an explanation of Shared Action Learning and context from past CTPC projects. Most of your background research will likely be taken from the project proposal that you create during the prep term. However, it is not a good idea to put the entire background section of your proposal into this page. This can make the material overwhelming, and remember there are users who go to the CTPC website looking for specific information, so we want to make it as accessible as possible. Break up your background page into topical sections so that your research is easily digestible. Also, be sure to include your resources on this page to give credit where it is due without distracting from other parts of your website (most of your references will probably have been used for this section). If possible, include a picture on this page as well.
