Garden Village Affiliated Football Club
Name: RALPH VAN DER SCHYFF (chairperson)
Year of establishment/founders: 1926
Mission: For the furtherance and promotion of suitable recreation and true sportsmanship, amongst the younger generation and the advancement of physical and mental development amongst the members of society generally.
Objectives: Is to build our clubhouse and to improve our facilities in order for our members to enjoy the benefits of belonging to the football club. At the moment, we are still lacking proper facilities.
Services/activities: We would like to be of more help to the community and especially for the youth of Maitland Garden Village. Should we have a clubhouse, it would form part of a recreational platform for the younger generation.
Achievements: In terms of achievements we can surely only highlight all our honours in winning league and knock-out titles. Apart from that our club was voted twice for club of the year in the CAPE TOWN TYGERBERG FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION of which we are an affiliated member.
Current needs of your organisation: Our club can definitely do with a financial sponsorship and equipment for the future. Equipment list would be a set of jerseys for all our teams (3 senior and 5 junior teams), match balls, practice balls, tracksuits and various training equipment.
Additional information you feel is important: Apart from Garden Village AFC being a household name in the football fraternity, lots of people do not know the existence of Maitland Garden Village. Maitland Garden Village was renowned as a forgotten Village over the past years and we as a community base football club are trying our utmost to promote the Village through playing football. Our league structure is setup in the manner that we play on a home and away basis with the result that we are travelling to various places as far as Somerset West, Fish Hoek, Camps Bay but to name a few. It is in this area that we are in desperate need for a 21 seater mini bus to transport our players to various venues on match days.
