The Process – Step 7

Determining need for fixing the channel

After evaluating, analyzing, and meeting with the community, a plan to solve any problems experienced by the greywater channel must be created. It will be important to brainstorm with the community and to hear their ideas to fix the channel since they will be the primary maintenance team for the channel. Once a plan of action has been decided upon, the community should try to set a date by which the repairs will be made. This unofficial timeline should be put in place so that the channel isn’t neglected and the identified problems are solved.

It is also important to consider how the problems being fixed can be prevented when similar channels are constructed in other parts of the settlement. By analysing the causes of the issues and taking measures to prevent them from occurring in future projects, the efficiency of the upgrading process can be improved dramatically.
